The grandfather of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, who was captured by Gaza Strip resistance forces in 2006, has accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of foiling negotiations at the last moment after parties were on the verge of an exchange deal a about a year ago.If true it follows a consistent pattern of making sure negotiations crash, and the Shalit case has become a major point in Israeli agitprop - and as such Shalit may be more useful to Israel as a victim than as a sign of the possibility of negotiationg with positive results and leniency from Hamas.
